Author biographies



Tanure Ojaide



Professor Tanure Ojaide is a former Fellow in writing of the University of Iowa. He is currently a Professor in the Department of African American Studies at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He received his BA from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and his MA and Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Syracuse.

Professor Ojaide has published twelve collections of poetry listed below. His poetry awards include the Commonwealth Poetry Prize for the African Region, the All–Africa Okigbo Prize for Poetry, the BBC Arts and Africa Poetry Award, and the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Poetry Award. Ojaide’s poetry has been translated into Chinese, Dutch, and French.
