I Want to Dance is an individualized metaphor of the Human condition. The collection is a song in three parts. The first section is surreal and mystical;
the second part deals with practical experiences and other fresh memories. The third section relates to the memories of the Poets travels.
In this Journey of triple dimension the father the travel, the closer to home. Movement from surreal and mystical to the human and physical is one long
stream of inspiration that the poet immerses himself to come out and share with others, his song of experience.
About the author: Professor Tanure Ojaide is a former Fellow in writing of the University of Iowa. He is currently a Professor in the Department of
African American Studies at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He received his BA from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and his MA and Ph.D.
in Creative Writing from the University of Syracuse.
Professor Ojaide has published twelve collections of poetry listed below. His poetry awards include the Commonwealth Poetry Prize for the African Region,
the All?Africa Okigbo Prize for Poetry, the BBC Arts and Africa Poetry Award, and the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Poetry Award. Ojaide?s poetry has
been translated into Chinese, Dutch, and French
